Features of eScan Version 11 Internet Security Suite for Home Users

1. New User Friendly GUI: Single screen eScan Protection Center access designed to suit all user
2. Content Security and Parental Control: This user-based feature helps you block objectionable content and harmful Web sites.
3. Web Phishing Filter: This feature protects you from phishing Web sites. If the Web Phishing Filter is blocking a genuine Web site, the user can send an e-mail to support@escanav.com to list the Web site as genuine. The maximum turnaround time is 24 hours.
4. Virtual Keyboard: This feature serves as a precaution against keyloggers. You can use this keyboard while typing sensitive information, such as banking passwords or credit card numbers.
5. Gaming Mode: This feature, when enabled, prevents eScan from displaying notifications and alert messages while you are playing computer games. The USB password protection module will remain active even while the Gaming Mode is on.
6. Folder and Files Security: This feature helps you lock specific files and folders so that network users or local users cannot modify, delete, or rename them.
7. Product Installation CD with Bootable Rescue Disk: This CD comes with a set of installation setup files and a bootable Rescue Disk. The bootable Rescue Disk helps you clean boot your computer if the operating system fails to load on it. When you boot the computer by using the Rescue Disk, the eScan Anti-Virus Toolkit (previously MWAV) scans and cleans the computer’s memory, registry, startup folders, system folders, and drives off viruses and spyware.
8. Laptop Mode: This power-saving feature increases the battery standby time by automatically preventing memory intensive processes like scheduled scans from running while the laptop is in the Battery Mode.
9. Advanced Self-Protection Features: This feature prevents new generation malware from disabling eScan real-time protection on your computer. The feature protects eScan services such as eScan updater, eScan server, and MailScan Dispatcher from being stopped and/or terminated. It also protects eScan executables or services running in the memory from being stopped and/or terminated.
10. Malicious URL Filtering: This feature of eScan 11 includes a Malware URL filter that protects endpoints against Drive-by Malware downloads as socially engineered Malware attacks pose one of the largest risks to individuals and organizations. Access to malicious websites / URLs will be BLOCKED effectively providing to ZERO Day protection to computers.
11. Grid-based Web Access/Timing: eScan 11 includes a Grid-based Web Access/Timing feature which is a part of the Web Protection module. This feature provides you with a graphical mechanism for specifying the duration for which the Web Protection module should allow Web access, block Web access, or deactivate time restrictions. The timing grid comprises blocks that represent time in an interval of every half an hour (from 00:00 AM to 12:00 noon and from 12:00 noon to 11:59:59 PM) for a whole week. It uses color codes for each action. Users can simply select an action and click the grid to color the time blocks based on their requirements.
12. Automatic Patching of Windows® Operating System Vulnerabilities: eScan 11 automatically checks the Microsoft® Web site and downloads critical hotfixes and updates for the Windows® operating systems as and when they become available. Most new strains of malicious software, such as Rootkit.Stuxnet.A and Rootkit.TmpHider exploit the vulnerabilities in operating systems. eScan 11 ensures that the computer on which it is installed has the latest hotfixes and updates installed on it. Thus, eScan prevents malicious software that exploit vulnerabilities in the operating system from infecting the computer and helps users protect their data from hackers and other security threats.

eScan also has several enhanced features that are as follows:

1. Anti-Virus Engine: This engine is an intelligent malware-detection engine that finds and cleans malicious software on the fly.
2. Heuristic Scan Engine: This engine detects unknown malicious software.
3. Web Protection: This feature helps you block objectionable content and harmful Web sites.
4. Block Spam: This feature helps you block unsolicited e-mails from reaching your inbox.
5. Block Attachment: This feature helps you specify e-mail attachment types that eScan should block automatically.
6. Proactive Security: This feature prevents unknown or suspicious applications from executing and compromising the security of your computer.
7. Application Control: This feature prevents restricted applications from executing on your computer.
8. USB Control: This feature prevents data theft by enabling password-protected access to USB storage devices. It also helps you Whitelist the USB storage devices for which you do not require password protection. In addition, this feature provides you with the facility to scan the device before access and block AUTORUN from executing automatically when you access the portable storage device. When a USB storage device is mounted as a CD, the Endpoint Security module will not prevent AUTORUN from executing.
9. Firewall: This feature prevents unauthorized access to or from any network.
10. Auto-download Updates: This feature automatically downloads free updates from eScan update servers.
11. Windows®-based Rescue Disk: This feature helps you create a bootable rescue CD that could be used to remove sophisticated rootkit infections that do not allow the Anti-Virus software to remove the infections when the computer is booted in regular mode.
12. eScan Remote Support: This feature helps you request the assistance of an eScan Technical Support Representative through a remote connection to your computer. It allows the eScan Technical Support Representative to remotely take control and troubleshoot the eScan-related issue on your computer.
13. eScan Auto Back Up and Restore: This feature helps you back up the critical files of the Windows® Operating System installed on your computer. It then automatically restores the clean files when eScan finds an infection in any of the system files that cannot be disinfected.
14. Download Latest Microsoft® Operating System Hotfix: This feature downloads critical patches and hotfixes for the Windows® Operating System.
