This helps in defining the mode of how the updates would be downloaded

a. FTP - this is the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) method of downloading the updates.
This option helps in configuring the notification module so that the concerned are notified /alerted in case of any violation.
When selected, the same has to be configured as explained below:-

i) FTP Proxy Server details - the Ftp Proxy Server IP Address and Port have to be defined, using which the updates would be download.
It has different options like "Warning Notification Settings", "Warning Mails" and "Delete Mails from User".

ii) Login name - if the FTP Proxy Server requires authentication then the necessary valid credentials need to be provided, like the login name.
'''A) Warning Notification Settings:'''

iii) Password - if the FTP Proxy Server requires authentication then the necessary valid credentials need to be provided, like the password.
This section describes the different notifications (warning messages) that are generated by eScan.

iv) Logon Type - the FTP server that is going to be used for downloading the updates may require additional configuration settings by which it authenticates the login. There are different logon types as explained below:-
1. Virus Alerts:-

v) User@siteaddress - This is the format the proxy server requires the logon to be in.
These are the different types of email alerts generated in different conditions.

vi) OPEN siteaddress: This is the format the proxy server requires the logon to be in.
a) Show Alert Dialog Box -

vii) PASV Mode: This is the format the proxy server requires the logon to be in.
This option is enabled by default.

When a system connects to a proxy server, the proxy server may filter unwanted data and access may not be granted. By using the passive or PASV mode, the server opens a random port, not secured by the proxy and allows it to connect.
This option displays a screen notifying that a virus, worm, trojan, spam, etc... has been detected and the required action taken.

viii) Socks: This is the format the proxy server requires the logon to be in. The version specific numbers like 4, 4A, 5 can be selected from the list box provided only when the Socks option is selected.
b) Attachment Removed Warning to Sender -

b. HTTP - this is the Hyper Text Transfer Protocol (HTTP) method of downloading the updates.
This option is enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the sender of the email when an offending attachment is removed by eScan.

When selected, the same has to be configured as explained below:-
c) Attachment Removed Warning to Recipient -

i) HTTP Proxy Server IP and Port - the Http Proxy Server IP Address and Port have to be defined, using which the updates would be download.
This option is enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the recipient of the email when an offending attachment is removed by eScan.

ii) Login name - if the HTTP Proxy Server requires authentication then the valid credentials need to be provided, like the login name.
d) Virus Warning to Sender -

iii) Password - if the HTTP Proxy Server requires authentication then the valid credentials need to be provided, like the password.
This option is enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the sender of the email when a virus is removed by eScan.

c. Network - this is the Network method of downloading the updates (Universal Naming Convention).
e) Virus Warning to Recipient -

When selected, the same has to be configured as explained below:-
This option is enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the recipient of the email when a virus is removed by eScan.

i. Source UNC Path –
f) Content Warning to Sender -

This option is available at the bottom end of the “General Config” page.
This option is not enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the sender of the email when offending content is removed by eScan.
The name and path to the shared drive and directory of the main (primary) server needs to be provided in this field, i.e. the server system (share details) where all the antivirus updates are downloaded first. For example - \\abc\c\pub\update.

g) Content Warning to Recipient -

This option is enabled by default. This option sends out a notification to the recipient of the email when offending content is removed by eScan.

h) Browse -

This option helps you to select the appropriate warning message and customize it as per your requirement.

'''Note -'''

As per point (f), this option is not enabled by default for a simple reason, i.e - when a spam email arrives and eScan takes the required action on it, it is illogical for eScan to send out a notification email warning alerting /updating the sender that because of offensive content the email was blocked.

'''B) After Update -'''
Basically, the email that is blocked is from a spammer and/or from a malware [worm infected system] that sends out bulk emails, hence is illogical to send out notification email warning back to a spammer or a worm.

This is the configuration page through which you can configure what has to be run /executed after an update is downloaded.
MicroWorld recommends not to change the default warning message.

1) Execute this program after downloading the updates -

This is an option provided among many others that helps in case there is a need to run /execute a particular application /program after a successful download of the updates is over.

2) After downloading the updates, make a Virus List –
'''B) Warning Mails:'''
This option automatically creates a virus list after a successful download of the updates is over.

3) Update Notification -
In this section the email address/es are specified as to who all would be notified (sender and recipient).

This option when enabled helps to send an email notification /alert to the email address specified in the "TO" field of the "Update Notification" option.
1. From:- this is the email address (of the sernder) that would be used to send the  notification email.
2. To:- this is the email address (of the recipient) that would be used to send the notification email.

'''C) Delete Mails from User:'''

'''C) Scheduling –'''
Here, the email address/es from whom you do not wish to receive email/s from are displayed. To add, just type the email address in the field provided, for example - abc@xyz.com, once added, henceforth, all emails coming from this email address would automatically get deleted before being downloaded onto the system. This option can be further customized by adding a domain to the list from where you do not wish to get emails from, for example - *@xyz.com. In other words, not only email address/es can be defined like abc@xyz.com but domains too like *@xyz.com (wildcard is supported).

This is the scheduler which automatically polls /queries to the internet and downloads the latest updates. The time interval can be set as per requirement (the time is set in minutes) after which it would automatically download the latest updates. The default time interval set is to 60, alternatively the download, can also be scheduled.

At the bottom end of this Update option page, there is a “Reports” section, in which “View Log” option is available. This option when clicked on displays the full log (with the latest status) of the downloader.
Other options -
Refresh - this option refreshes and displays the latest status.
OK - will help exit the notification option page.
Cancel - will not save the current changes done.
Apply - this option saves the settings done.
